Painter, sculptor and cultural manager, he was born in the city of Santo Domingo on July 17, 1931. From an early age he stood out as a student at the National School of Plastic Arts and as an activist organizing cultural and sports clubs. He entered the National School of Fine Arts at the end of the 1940s and formed a group with Fernando Peña Defilló, Ada Balcácer, Domingo Liz, Eligio Pichardo, among others. Silvano Lora died on July 12, 2003.
The painter believed in the duty of unity around cultural projects, regardless of orthodoxies. He liked to add, with his colleagues, friends and volunteers linked to his projects. His purpose of creating a great family among Dominicans had no ideological conditions, especially those linked to his Marxist affiliation. His enemies saw in him a ghost. But his people knew how to discover the human being.
