Collection: MARIE JIMÉNEZ

Interdisciplinary, non-binary artist from the National District, Dominican Republic. At the age of 19, she began exploring performativity with the camera, developing a series of photorealistic paintings on homosexuality and monogamy. In 2011, after being censored from her Fine Arts thesis exhibition in Altos de Chavón due to their erotic and homosexual content, the paintings participated in the 26th Biennial of the Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic. Shortly after, they were published in the country's freely circulated newspaper. Since then, Marie has been working with the construction of characters.
